ABOUT US:

Watertown Soccer History:

In 2001, a small group of dedicated parents fought and won the right to have a girls soccer team sanctioned as a club starting the school year of 2002-03. That team had great success due, in part, to their commitment to soccer during the off-season. As part of the approval process for allowing Girls Soccer to become a varsity sport they began the process of starting a youth soccer program in the area to develop future players, Bob Decker forged a partnership with Wings Soccer Club which began the summer of 2004. It was a great success and has continued every year since then. Bob moved out of the area in 2005 and with him went the solid leadership a program needs. Diane Rundell held it together long enough for the next wave of parents to move in.

Meanwhile, in 2005-06 the high school girl’s team was granted full rights as a school team sport. Then, in 2006-07 the school added a boys program. Clearly, there was interest in the sport of soccer in Watertown.

The new group of parents worked hard with Wings to improve the Watertown soccer experience for the 2007 season. Most agreed it was successful. However the task remained to keep fees and programs in line with neighboring communities and other programs available in Watertown. That became increasingly difficult under Wings and in September of 2007 Watertown withdrew from their association with Wings. On November 1st, Crow River Soccer Club was formally approved by Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).
